Why I Volunteer for Planned Parenthood
I decided to volunteer and later intern for Planned Parenthood for various reasons. Simplistically I agreed that women's health should be a priority in our society, which was something that their foundational philosophy was aimed at. Yet, I also think that Planned Parenthood is a necessity in our society because they counterbalance the patriarchal supremacy of capitalism by allowing women to reclaim control over their body. Through them, women are able to be healthier, more educated, informed, and have a sense of control of themselves. Advancement of women in education and in the business world was a thought that was illogical before women were able to control their bodies and decisions, but with many advancements in advocacy, such as Planned Parenthood, we were able to achieve more than in previous history! For that I had to, not solely wanted to, become part of their awesome organization!
