About the Event

March is dedicated to celebrating women’s history and calling out the injustices that pose a threat to women’s equality, but often times, society’s most marginalized voices are left out of the conversation. March 3rd marked the 17th International Sex Workers’ Rights Day, and all over the world — including in the United States — sex workers are still facing discrimination, harassment, abuse, assault, and basic civil rights violations.

This Women’s History Month, we’re collaborating with special guest Zoë Ligon, a celebrated sex writer and owner of Spectrum Boutique, to break the silence on sex workers, educate ourselves, and discuss ways we can advocate for sex workers and a sex positive society. We’ll also be making care kits to donate to Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) Michigan and local shelters that provide support for sex workers and victims of human trafficking.

If you or any businesses you know would like to donate lotion, socks, underwear, or any hygiene products to our care kits, please drop them off at the Detroit Planned Parenthood Health Center or coordinate with East Michigan PPAM Organizer Emily Clancy via email at emily.clancy@ppmi.org.
