MI PP Votes reminding voters that reproductive freedom is on the ballot this year
LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Planned Parenthood Votes is investing more than $2.1 million in digital ads, mailers and door-knocking this election cycle, targeting the presidential race, Michigan Supreme Court races and key State House districts. The House districts include HDs 27, 54, 55, 83 and 103.
The electoral program in Michigan is part of “We Decide,” a national Planned Parenthood advocacy and political campaign to protect and expand reproductive rights across the country.
Statement from Erica Shekell (she/her), Communications Director for Michigan Planned Parenthood Votes:
“Two years ago, Michiganders came out in record numbers to protect our reproductive freedom, and we’ll do it again this November by voting for reproductive health champions up and down the ballot. Michiganders have made it clear: At no point during a pregnancy should politicians have a say in medical decisions we make with our doctors and our families.
“While anti-abortion politicians attempt to rewrite their anti-abortion records and gaslight voters into voting for them, Michiganders know that actions speak louder than words, and if these lawmakers are elected, they would impose a nationwide abortion ban, take away IVF, and even restrict access to birth control — undoing everything Michiganders have fought for. Michiganders have worked too hard to protect our freedom to make the decisions that are best for their health, families and futures to have them stripped away — and we decide what comes next.”
The digital ads, which are running on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Hulu, Roku, and other streaming platforms, highlight sexual and reproductive health champions and hold anti-abortion politicians accountable for their records. The presidential ads alone have been seen more than 9.6 million times. All ads can be viewed below.
