Alex Lazo

Alex joined Planned Parenthood of Michigan in 2017 and serves the greater Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo areas as the West Michigan Regional Community Organizer and Educator.  A West Michigan native, Alex graduated in 2016 from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Non-profit Administration and minors in Women & Gender Studies and Music. 

With a long history in the field of positive youth development, Alex leads Planned Parenthood of Michigan's high school leadership program called Peer Education and strongly believes in making sex education medically accurate in an accessible, inclusive, and culturally relevant way. Alex facilitates from an experiential learning framework, making sure he can craft meaningful interactions and experiences for young people, adults, and our volunteers.  Helping others find empowerment and discovering their best selves through organizing, education, and the arts (Afrolatin dancing) is what brings Alex joy.
