Melina Brann

Director of Government Relations

Melina Brann is a social worker by trade and an advocate at heart and is now serving as the Director of Government Relations for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan. She has almost a decade of experience in advocacy, social welfare, and nonprofit management and most recently served as Director of Government Relations for the National Association of Social Workers – Michigan.

Prior to working at NASW-MI, Melina led the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing and has experience working in both hospice and inpatient mental health services. During this time, she worked and volunteered on many progressive, grassroots campaigns where her love for advocacy grew. Melina earned her Master’s in Social Work from Grand Valley State University where she learned the importance of systems level change and community organizing.

Melina lives in Lansing with her partner, two cats (Crouton & Carrot), and dog (Juniper). She paints and creates digital art (you might have seen her stuff at Meijer stores across the country) and enjoys playing volleyball in her free time.
